Workshop on CSR Implementation, Evaluation & Reporting 12-13 September 2013 was a Great Success! This workshop was fourth workshop organised by Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi in collaboration with INDIACSR. Workshop got very motivating response. This workshop had participants from various fields like PSUs (Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd., BALCO, Vayugrid, Central Coal Fields), Select City Infrastructures, BD India Gurgaon, NGOs (Serve Samman, DEAN Foundation), independent consultants and researchers. The resource persons for the workshop were Col. Prakash Tiwari (Group Head Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)– Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) ) as keynote speaker, Sh. Ashwani Kumar -Regional Director (Delhi)- ICCSR , Ex-General Manager Incharge, Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited, INDIA), Dr. R K Garg (IFS, Exec. Director/Advisor, Coal India Ltd. ), Dr. K K Upadhyaya (Head-CSR at Aditya Birla Centre of Excellence- FICCI ), Ms. Rubina Sen (Focal Point Coordinator – GRI India ) and Dr. A K Nigam (Ex- IRPS Officer, Ex-Advisor Indian Railways , currently Sr. Professor at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management), Prof. Saurabh Mittal (Consulting Editor- INDIACSR & Faculty –Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi).

The quality discussions and deliberations in the workshop enhanced the understanding on the various aspects of CSR & Sustainability of Socially Responsible Initiatives. Attendees shared their experience and discussed upon leveraging the facilities and accomplishments by them over the past few years. The programme director Prof. Saurabh Mittal thanked all the resource persons for sparing time from their busy schedules and interacting with the participants.
Two days MDP on "Corporate Social Responsibility for Sustainable Business" on 17th and 18th January 2013

Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, New Delhi with TUV Rheinland, organized Two Day Management development programme on Corporate Social Responsibility for sustainability business, on 17-18th January 2013 at its MDP Center –Takshila, New Delhi.
The workshop was well organized with a combination of presentations, detailed case studies, interactive group discussions and practical sessions. The workshop was aimed with a detail discussion on current CSR guidelines and its outcome with a combination of revised DPE, ISO 26000 and sustainable reporting with Indian and International CSR Experts. The workshop also included global trends driving corporate responsibility,discussion on how the leading companies have responded, and what they have gained.
The workshop began with an inauguration and Keynote address on objective and Need of CSR by Mr. Vimal Kumar (CSR-Head BHEL), Programme Director –Dr. Poonam Kumar, Dr. D K Batra (Director AIM Delhi) and Prof B D Singh (Dean Executive AIM Delhi) .
Key Resource person were Mr. Ganga C Sharma (Country Head CSR & sustainability services), Mr. Ashwani Kumar (Ex-CSR Head BHEL) and Mr. Martin (CEO CSR COMPANY).
Mr. Ganga C Sharma (Country Head CSR & sustainability services) focused on: Importance of CSR in modern business, Voluntary initiatives of Social Responsibility, CSR disclosure & Sustainability Reportingstructure as per GRI- G3 Guidelines, Guidance of social Responsibility core subjects with labour practices, environment and consumer issues. Mr. Ashwani Kumar (Ex-CSR Head BHEL) discussed about current DPE guidelines, Guidance of SR on integrating with community development and engaging stakeholders. He also focused on Indian initiatives like CSR National Voluntary guidelines and other policies. Mr. Martin (CEO CSR COMPANY) on video conferencing talked on ISO 26000, its development process and scope in global world.
The workshop ended with concluding session by Ms. Reva Nayyar (IAS officer -Retd, Chairman on the Board of Community Friendly Movement & as Director in Essel Social Welfare Foundation, chairperson of Bal Sahyog, appointed in November 2010 by Prime Minister of India Dr. ManMohan Singh) with a detailed discussion on CSR and its importance with practical discussion on corporate and NGO involvement. Workshop had participants from mixture of PSU companies like NHPC, BHEL, Power grid, United Insurance, world famous organizations in CSR Domain like Indian center for CSR, Safe water network, save the children, Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust, Jamia CSR cell and IGNOU.

Dr. Wayne Wisser (Founder – CSR International, Kaleidoscope Futures (Over Video Conferencing) talked about CSR Practices in Europe and other parts of the World. Mr. Anil Jaggi (Founder- ICT4D) and Ms. Harsha Mukherjee (Founder- Ekjaa Consultancy) discussed the CSR initiatives in India by various organizations, the reporting standard and issues relating to their applicability in India.

MDP on "Team Management - A Case in Sports"

A one-day MDP on “Team Management - A Case in Sports” was held at Takshila-The MDP Centre of Excellence Asia-Pacific Institute of Management on 22nd of August, 2012. The Program Director of the MDP was Dr. Ashu Singh.
The highlight of the day was keynote speaker, Mr. Madan Lal, Former Indian Test and ODI Cricketer. Mr. Lal is a sportsman whose contribution to the game has made him a stalwart of Indian Cricket.
Mr. Madan Lal was given a warm welcome by Dr. D.K. Batra, Prof. B.D. Singh, Dr. Ashu Singh and other members of the MDP team. Our respected Chairman, Mr. A.K. Shrivastava felicitated Mr. Lal with a silver salver and a shawl.
Highlighting the significance of team management, Dr. D. K. Batra, Director, Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, stated, “With this management session, our attempt is to inculcate amongst participants, the inevitability of a well-knit team spirit, to experience & understand their potential capacity to become better team player as well as team leader for achieving the targeted objective which are ultimately translated into sustainability & profitability of their respective organization.”
The one- day MDP was divided in four sessions.
The first Session was taken by Prof. B.D. Singh on “Team Management for Managerial Effectiveness”. The main focus in this session was on types of teams and dynamics of team management.
The second session was taken by Mr. Madan Lal. He shared his experience and knowledgeable insights on the management skills in sports where team concept is supreme. He focused on the prerequisites of Team Management and enriched the participants by citing examples from the cricket world.Mr. Madan Lal elaborated on the subject, “Winning a match is equivalent to achieving a major target whether it is the cricket field or an office environment. Therefore, a strong and organized team plays a very important role in gaining a set target. Every team player holds some specific skill set which helps the team setting a goal and achieving it. Also, it is very important to hold and manage the team in difficult and critical situations. A sense of fair play and sportsmanship is essential in every field and that is much needed today.” He also shared his experience and knowledge about strategies to ‘Win’.
The third session was taken by Dr. S.P. Chauhan on “Dynamics of Working Together”. He involved the participants in team building games and conducted brainstorming session for making effective teams.
The last session of the day was taken by Dr. Ashu Singh on “Team Management Skills” and Dr. Reema Chaudhury conducted Team Building Exercises which involved active participation from the participants of the MDP.
At the end of the day, the participants were given certificates of participation.
