AIM PGDM Admission FAQ

1) Brief me about the programs offered by Asia Pacific Institute of Management?

      
For last 21 years we have offered specialized and new programs in Post graduate diploma in Management (PGDM). Our programs have been consistently reviewed and approved by AICTE and Ministry of HRD, Govt of India and recognized by AIU (Association of Indian Universities).
 
Recently AICTE has allowed new programs as well as has increased our overall seats from 240 to 360.
 
For this session 2017-19 the programs are as follows:
 
PGDM (General Management)-This program is spread over a period of 2 year full time divided into six terms. Total Intake -180 seats
 
PGDM (Marketing) – For 2 year full time divided into six semesters.
Total Intake – 60 seats.
 
PGDM (International Business) – Program is designed for 2 years full time divided into six terms.
Total Intake – 60 seats    
 
PGDM (Banking & Finance services) – It’s a 2 year full time course divided into six terms.
Total Intake – 60 Seats.
 
2) How are the Programs different?
 
All the Programs are designed and specialized keeping in mind the current market and industry development. Following are the few features of our program:
 
PGDM (General): This is a dual specialization program.
 
The focus here is primarily on building a strong foundation of conceptual and analytical skills required for advanced and specialized courses offered in the second year.
 
Students with diverse academic backgrounds choose this program to be well versed with various functional areas namely, human resource, operations, and information technology in addition to the conventional specialization.
 
PGDM (Marketing): Super Specialized Program
 
To meet the corporate demand, new electives have been added namely, digital marketing, event and media management and strategies for emerging markets and others have been introduced in the curriculum. Workshops have been introduced to provide hands- on training on the latest digital media technique.
 
PGDM (International Business): Super Specialized Program
 
Here we are teaching integration of the Indian economy and businesses with the global environment. As a part of the curriculum for International Business, we offer global exchange program for students preparing them for International market.
 
PGDM (Banking and Finance Services): Super Specialized Program
 
Develops 'quality' bankers through a carefully devised curriculum to teach the most modern finance and accounting methods. Helps students to seek key positions in the Banking and Financial sector of India and abroad.
 
3) What are the Job Opportunities for these Programs?
 
As all these programs are designed based on the industry trend and experience. Hence the opportunities are immense; our previous batches of different programs have been well placed with leading and reputed organizations. Our alumni and current students of different program have found key positions in the following reputed companies.
 
PGDM (General): Organizations like Blue Ocean Ventures, Ernst & Young, Gartner, Naukri.com, India Mart, Mother Dairy, DHL, Safexpress and many more.
 
PGDM (Marketing) : Amul, Parle Agro, ITC, Britannia and etc.

4) Are your Programs recognized and approved?
 
a.) Yes. All the programs in AIM are approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt of India. As well as recognized by AIU (Association of Universities). This recognition helps us to give PGDM equivalent to MBA also the NBA accreditation is under process. Further Asia Pacific Institute of Management has been ranked 6th amongst Private B- schools and 9th amongst all B -schools in North India.
  

b.) What is the teaching methodology you follow for education Program?
 

Pedagogical tools are matched to the needs of the individual program and emphasize active participation rather passive assimilation. The case method of study is the major tool. It is supplemented by group exercise, role plays, games lectures and presentations by the participants.

 
The students are encouraged to actively participate in college events, entrepreneur projects with discussion forums.
 
c.) Will there be guest lectures from the Industry experts?
 

In each module it is compulsory to have 2 guest speakers. Therefore in a semester there are minimum 12- 15 guest visiting to address the students. This helps the students gain business experience make them accustomed to real corporate life other than classroom learning. It transforms the students into successful businessman, entrepreneurs, leaders and great human beings. To name a few, Mr. Pranab Mukherjee prior to his election as President, Lord Meghnad Desai eminent politician, Dr Kiran Bedi -social activist and many more.

 
d) What is the usual class size?
 

The class size varies between 30-40 participants. The lecture–cum discussion is smaller in size to encourage the students for better interaction and more personal attention.

 

e) Will there be any Internship?
 

Internship is mandatory for all students and is facilitated by a dedicated team of industry expert. Each students needs to complete their internship as it has a very high weightage in the curriculum. The internships are excellent opportunities for students to gain first hand industry experience, and to challenge, test and validate the classroom learning. In return, the companies gain insights into the quality work done at AIM. Major companies for summer internships are Britannia Industries Ltd, Essar Projects India, ICICI bank Ltd, Aditya Birla Group, Reckitt Benckiser, Bharti Airtel, NIIT, Kotak Mahindra, State Bank of India and more.

 
5.) What are the selection criteria for admission in PGDM program?

Documents verification: Every applicant should submit a self-attested photocopy of each of the following documents at the time of GD and PI:

*Students appearing in Final Year Graduation Examination in 2017 can also apply subject to furnishing the proof of Graduation by October 01, 2017.
 
6.) Does Asia-Pacific have a Scholarship Scheme?
 

At Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, we believe in rewarding the hard work and excellence achieved by meritorious students in their academics. The final merit list for scholarships are strictly reviewed and evaluated by the academic committee at AIM. All scholarships are subject to an interview with the scholarship award committee.

 
7.) Do you have any other relaxation Scheme?
 
We do have another scheme, wherein we allow 5% relaxation in case of girl candidates, under admission criteria.
 
8.) What facilities do you offer at the AIM campus?
 

The Asia-Pacific campus is state-of-the-art that facilitates experiential learning. To simulate a corporate and professional environment for students, we provide moderrn and latest facilities in the form of lecture theaters and discussion and idea rooms. Additionally, there is a reading lounge, auditorium (with audio-visual facilities) and labs equipped with online e-resources like ABI/INFORM ProQuest, Harvard Business Review, Sage online journals, EBSCO and more than 300 national and international hard copy journals.

These accessories provide a student with more information related to market, and groom him/her more professionally.
 
9.) What residential facilities would Asia-Pacific offer to students?
 
Outstation students admitted to any program may avail Institute’s accommodation.
 
We have a friendly and safe environment off-campus hostel. We provide AC and Non AC rooms, spacious lounge, and huge mess with excellent workers and ever- improving quality of mess food.
 
We provide separate hostel-accommodation for Boys and Girls, through exclusive tie-up (on twin-sharing basis). There is also a pick and drop service provided from campus to the hostel.
 
Lodging and Boarding charges will be extra, over and above the tuition fee.

10.) Are the students expected to be in business attire?
 
Formal business suits or uniform is compulsory for AIM students. This is important for students’ personality development, in addition to their capabilities, skills and talents. students’ personality development,  part from their capabilities, skills and talents. 
 
11.) How is the PGDM program different from MBA?
 
MBA programs are delivered by the Universities. PGDM programs are designed by the autonomous Business Schools approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and recognized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The advantage of doing PGDM is that the curriculum is not conventional and is reviewed annually by the team of academician keeping study modules aligned with the market.
 
12.) Our Intellectual Capital?
 
Faculty is one of the most important resources for an educational institute. We recognize the importance of faculty with doctoral degrees or with 15- 20 years of industry experience. They contribute to national and international journals and collaborate with a broad range of agencies to develop and execute consultancy projects. We also have a dedicated research department for conducting research and case studies.
 
b.) How do students communicate with the faculty other than class room timings?
 
Our academic team works with high spirits thinking of student’s future with focus on their curriculum and all-round development. Preferable communication medium is through email. However, a student can talk over telephone. We also have an online portal (TCS) for students to express their ideas, suggestions and any query. We follow open-door policy where students may approach the faculty outside the classroom after seeking appointment. In case of urgency faculty, is available for their students at all time.
  
13.) What about Students Exchange Program?
 
To provide global exposure to our students in PGDM International Business (IB) we offer an international exchange program. Based on our international collaborations with different universities and B-schools namely AIM¬ University of Liberia (West Africa), AIM¬ MacEwan (Canada) and IDRAC, Lyon (France), students get a wide range of exposure, knowledge and experience.
 
Students in large numbers come to our institute to exchange experience, knowledge, information culture and language to strength our bond globally. This kind of exposure is extremely useful from their career perspectives in the long-run.
 
14.) How do students manage assessment and placement?
 
Students participate in the exchange program depending upon the mutual schedules of AIM and foreign business schools. The credits they earn are transferred to their assessment. The placement process for such students is kept open for a longer period and their joining is negotiable by the placement cell. This is done because we feel an international experience is a great exposure adds to their professional career.
  
15.) When do the placements start?
The acceptability of the Institute is based on the strength of its placements. A large number of companies have faith in Asia-Pacific Institute of Management and in our quality of students. Placements normally begin from November every year. While a few national and international corporates start coming in from December, the final offers are made or decided only in January. Among the notable corporates who have recruited from us are Aditya Birla Group, Tata Housing, Ernst & Young, Citibank, HSBC, Standard Charted Bank, ITC, DHL, Deloitte, Nestle, American Express, Hewlett-Packard, Asian Paints, IDBI Bank, HCL, Abbott Healthcare and more.
 
16.) What about the students’ fee structure?
 
a.) Fee is payable in instalment and the schedule for fee payment needs to be on time. Any delay in instalments will be penalized.

All fee payment must be made through – Cheque/Demand Draft / Pay order – drawn in favor of “Asia-Pacific Institute of Management” payable at New Delhi.

d.) What about education loan facilities by banks?

Asia-Pacific Institute of Management has a tie-up with Indian Bank for providing Education Loans to its students. The students can also approach other banks offering Education Loans and can also take support from Vidyalaxmi educational scheme (www.vidyalakshmi.co.in).

 
The loans shall be sanctioned by the respective banks subject to a student fulfilling the bank’s terms and conditions and submitting the required documents.
*Admission office of the institute shall provide guidance to those students who wish to avail education loan.
  
e.) Is the program brochure available online? How do I download it?
