A guest lecture was conducted on the 10th of December, 2015 in the seminar hall for the first year students on the topic- Green Marketing by Mr. Kishore Chakraborty, Ex- VP of McCann Worldgroup India. The motive was to sensitize everyone on the need to be environmentally preferable to others while marketing any product. The interest of the students was indicated unequivocally through the jam-packed seminar hall.

Mr. Chakraborty showed a wonderful presentation covering all the aspects of Green Marketing right from the definition to the consequences and benefits of going green. The interactions were made even more interesting with the humor and thought provoking content. The concepts were well complemented with some videos of the advertisements used by the companies towards green marketing such as, wheel’s (‘do bucket pani bachana h’ campaign) and Melbourne Metro’s campaign on ‘dumb ways to die’ which became a huge success which went viral through sharing and social media starting in November 2012.

The ‘Go Green or Go Red’ tagline used by Mr. Chakraborty helped the students imbibe the fact that the contemporary era requires us to be environmental and societal friendly or go out of the business as happened with Nestle and many other firms on different occasions.


Finally, the lecture came to an end with summarizing the presentation and some more interesting facts about Green Marketing. The students were highly impressed and even requested for a sequel of the lecture to increase their knowledge on the current marketing trends.
