Asia-Pacific Institute of Management is a premier Business School ranked in A+ category in Delhi region. Established in 1996, a frontrunner in the field of management education, organized a Seminar titled “Celebrating the Women Power” on 13th March, 2012, at its Campus.
More than 150 Women from different areas participated in this Seminar. Mrs. Damyanti Goel, the Mayor of Gaziabad, was the Guest of Honour at the occasion and Ms. Beenu Sehgal, the Vice President-DLF, was the Chief Guest.
Other eminent guests included Mrs. Arpita Bansal, Managing Director, Atelier, Dr. Sunita Gupta, Associate Professor, Delhi University, Ms. Priyanka Gilani, the Managing Editor, Indian Journal of Marketing and many more.
While briefing the objectives of the Seminar, the Vice Chairperson, AIM, Mrs. Anshu Srivastava said “The Women of today is nowhere less than the male counterparts, be it be any area and in order to celebrate this increasing power of the women, AIM has organized this Seminar, saluting all the Women.” She also told that although the Women’s Day is on 8th March,2012 but due to the festival of Holi on the same day this year, this programme was scheduled to be on 13th March,2012.
In her address to the audience, the Mayor of Gaziabad, Mrs Damyanti Goel said “Today women are holding eminent positions in all the sectors: either it be the designation of the President of India or the Chairperson of a leading Political party or being the MD of any leading corporate”. She also added that “We need to remove some evils from our society like Killing of Female feticides, Dowry System, Female harassment etc. and in order to achieve this the young generation has to move ahead and take a pledge to root out these evils and make our country a free place for women to breath in.”
The Question-Answer session comprised many Questions from the students to the eminent Speakers. The Seminar focused on “Women Empowerment: History, Need & Requirements” along with touching some other factors like“Save the Girl Child, Dowry System, etc”
The Chairman Mr. A. K. Srivstava said “The Mission of AIM is not only imparting the management education but also making our students equipped about the learning to live in a civilized society.” He added “The society cannot be imagined without the existence of women as they are the builder of the family and work both”. He explained the significance of celebrating the Women’s Day, to all the students and expected that the seminar, as an outcome will be able to impart the learning about the importance of Women empowerment.
One of the important elements of this Seminar was the honouring of the SOS Mothers at this occasion. SOS is an NGO, where some women take care of the orphan children like their mothers. The SOS Mothers were honoured by the Vice-Chairperson of the institute.
