  Seminar / Conferences / Workshops & MDPs Attended by Faculty & Staff

  Prof. S.K.Kapoor attended a three day long workshop on “Case Writing and Case Method of Teaching” organized by Case Research Society of India and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad from 28th April to 30th April 2008 at IIM campus, Ahmedabad.

The workshop was meant for faculty members of the Government and AICTE approved Management Institutions. The workshop was attended by 27 faculty members from different management institutes from all over India. The workshop was conducted by the faculty of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The focus was case method of teaching at Management Institutes and ideas were given as to how to write a case.

Mr. Faisal Ahmed, Senior Lecturer, attended “Panorama 2008: Faculty Development Program” (sponsored by AICTE) from June 2-14, 2008 at Gitarattan International Business School, Rohini, New Delhi. The program focussed on evolving teaching methodologies and research areas in contemporary management disciplines. It was conducted through various sessions by eminent scholars and practitioners. Professor Devi Singh, Director, IIM Lucknow was the Keynote Speaker.

Dr. Pallavi Sharma attended the discussion on Prof. Arvind Panagariya’s ‘India: The Emerging Giant’ on 9th May 2008, which was organized by FICCI, New Delhi. The Discussion was chaired by Dr. Bimal Jalan and it included Prof. Jagdish Bhagwati and Dr. Amit Mitra as the main speakers.

Ms. Piali Halder attended a one week Training Programme on “Retail Management Practices in Indian Industries” at Institute of Management Studies, Ghaziabad held from 28th April 2008 to 2nd May 2008. The training programme was sponsored by AICTE and it was organized through ISTE, New Delhi. The major objectives of the Training Programme were to update the participants with the changing scenario of Indian Retail Sector, understanding the opportunity of organized retail sector, structural changes happening in retail sector and future of retail sector in India.

Ms. Tulika Chandra, Mr. Shuja Zubery, Ms. Shefali Tiwari along with twelve students attended a two day long CII National Conference and Annual Session, 2008 “Building People, Building India” from 29th to 30th April, 2008 at Vigyan Bhawan and Le Meridian Hotel. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry managed organization, playing a proactive role in India’s development process. The CII National Conference and Annual Session 2008 focused on human resource development – of building people through human capacity enrichment, talent development, training of people and employment generation besides the discussions on the burning issues of global price rise and food crises. In his inaugural speech Dr. Manmohan Singh, Honorable Prime Minister of India, said, “Improving the skill base of our people is the first step towards building India. The second step is to improve the climate for investment so that adequate number of employment opportunities, both skilled, and unskilled, are available for all our youth”. Bringing key policy makers, Ministers, intellectuals, academicians, corporate heads and media leaders on a single platform, the CII National Conference deliberated on leveraging India’s strengths and mitigating its weaknesses while striving to achieve an inclusive, sustainable growth for the country. It included a number of eminent speakers and the conference had interactive sessions too.

Ms. Mithu Gupta, Ms. Monica Rawat and some senior students attended the ASSOCHAM session at Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi on 02 June, 2008. This session was inaugurated by the Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
