A honey-bee quenches thirst with us. She takes the nectar away, we farm subconsciously on our glorious campus. Even the indescribably toiled fiorist doesn’t notice the broad day light loot. Others simply don’t have time to stop by a flower.
The bee enters these gardens of majesty on the invitation ironically from the tranquil owners of the nectar. After a little hovering to pretend as if she were just interested in submitting the appraisal for the sublimity of the ‘Snapdragon’, an extremely unique flower that has cleverly locked the treasure in one of its tallest towers, she perches on a swinging spike. Then she firmly holds the lower petal with her hind legs and upper with the fore to unfold the squeezed lips that the dragon has to his only fragile defense of the possession. The lip tied flower also uses this feature as camoufiage. No sooner than the bee syringes into the bowl, the sealed sweetener disappears. Poet Allama Iqbal refiects this unbelievable phenomenon in a motivating poem written for children in this way.

As luck would have it, I quietly observe the spectacular exhibition of the Almighty, sitting with a teacup clung between my knees on the stairs that take you to the world of wisdom, unfortunately missing chapter one on way.
Back home, packed with the prize, the torch bearer sprinkles part of it for letting others know the address of the booty. Having reached the hive, the insect regurgitates it from her additional tummy into the mouth of the co-workers who rinse the liquid until it is fully processed. They then lay it on the fioor and fan from the uncountable doors to evaporate the redundant water. Later, as the stuff thickens the swarm locks the wax windows and fiies. The locust may not remember the return path but man by serendipity gets
his share: Honey, the ultimate healing for the unthankful mankind. What really opens my wide shut eyes is the intuition bestowed to as miniscule a creature as an insect. Who else than his creator can have the capacity to teach this little bee to unseal the nectar for quenching thirst? Why at all then I, the best of all creatures worry about my needs when the sustainer is such omniscient, benevolent and direct?
I am of the opinion that natural beauty when sprawls, fears skipping the exclusivity. But on a customized garden like ours, you have opportunity to relish every blade of grass in particular. Each petal spiraled in here has a different spin to yarn. All we have to do is find a sincere listener in us. Extolling is inevitable. This place is undoubtedly a home to numerous ambassadors of aesthetics that color our imaginations incessantly. Mirza Ghalib, a veteran of Urdu poetry interestingly expresses his approval of splendor in the following couplet.

Flowers remind us of the days gone by, especially childhood, and it’s common for a nostalgic person like me to go down the memory lane as I stare at the scarlet Gulharh, a common Indian flower potted on either sides of the main façade of our institute. I often close my eyes and take a flight of fancy to the sweltering summer afternoons of Marehra, my ancestral town where Bajia, my foster mother taught me to grow white lilies. The patience that I would show to notice the perennial developing from a puny seedling to a marvelous hardy sapling has currently paid its dividends in my classes. I immensely enjoy transforming a nondescript student into virtuous disposition.
Over twenty awesome species of the ornamental flowers not only make my workplace aromatic but also colorful. It is these picturesque attributes refiected through shades of the Lord of the universe that buttress my work in the changing conditions of body and soul. A typical day of mine, for instance, starts in the company of yellow Cineraria that makes me optimistic. Once tired of commuting between the classrooms and my seat, the bushy Verbena boosts my energy to go ahead with robustness. Scented Green Sweet Williams offer relaxation from the hustle bustle of work on packed Mondays. The orange Daisies ward off spring allergies for dry skinned persons like me. While the fragrant Pansies relieve stress stimulating the pituitary gland, the part of the brain that releases tension-fighting beta-endorphins, the blue fascinating spiky Larkspurs boost my confidence behind the podium. They also trigger the production of melatonin, a brain chemical that gives me a good night sleep after a hectic day spent in here. |
