I am pleased to present the sixth issue of Asia-Pacific Business Review (ABR). It is a blend of different aspects of business management including information technology & systems. The papers included present a good exposure of current research with a global perspective. I trust the issue will prove to be a good reference for the researchers and practitioners, and will also provide directions for the future research. As I go through the issue, John McManus in his paper “The Global Software Industry Evaluating the Software Markets of the BRIC Nations” has presented an analytical study of the software industry and the effect of the contributions of Brazil, Russia, India and China (BRIC). A number of factors influencing success of the software industry in the BRIC Nations and emerging markets have been outlined. The paper by Nandana Rajatheva et al. presents the infrastructure and technology requirement for the emergency communication. This work has great significance in disaster management. Present issue includes two papers on banking. R. Amudha and Vijaya Bhanu have used SERVQUAL scale for measurement of service quality in banking sectors whereas Ram Pratap Sinha has used Data Envelopment Analysis for improving the productivity of commercial banks. Time volatility of the Asian Stock market has been predicted by M.Selvam et al. using the GARCH model. The work has a lot of concern if we see the recent fluctuations in the market. Azeem and Fatima in their paper have studied the factors which hinder managerial effectiveness in select public and private sector organizations. The findings have been supported by data from both the senior and middle level managers. A review of relational marketing definitions has been presented by Madhavaiah and Durga Rao. Nishat Faisal has highlighted the corporate social responsibilities in entire supply chain. He has investigated the factors influencing customer needs and its fulfillment through an empirical study. Pravin Kumar has outlined the recent practices in logistics outsourcing in leading countries in the world. In this paper, various factors considered for 3PL selection are different in these countries. The reasons for the differences in logistics practices are highlighted in a good manner. Shailendra Singh and Abhijit Bhattacharya have examined the validity of US based Work Scale factor in India mentioning the differences between EFA and CFA. A study on the TGS sensors has been presented by Syed A Imam and M R Khan and a practical approach has been explored for the multimedia applications. Abhiyendra Kumar presents various facets of e-Learning in India including the present status, learning activities, major organizations & their technologies involved. The focus is on the rural area a case study of the “knowledge hubs” in a particular district has been included. The work will certainly help to mobilize the educational and cultural communities in near future. With overwhelming support of the readers and contributor, ABR has completed the third year with this sixth issue. The number of quality papers being received is increasing at a very high speed. Considering this, it has been decided to make ABR- a quarterly publication from 2008 onwards. The next issue will be available by March end. I am sure that we will keep on receiving your valuable feedback and contributions. Editor, ABR vikas@asiapacific.edu |
