AICTE sponsored two week Faculty Development Program on ‘Innovative Financing of Projects’ was conducted successfully from June 16, 2008 to June 27, 2008 in the Institute premises. The Program Coordinator for the FDP was Prof. Shrinivas Shirur. The program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Director of the institute Prof. D K Banerjee, and the Chief Guest Dr. BBL Madhukar. The Valedictory session was presided over by the honorable Director of the institute.
The program was attended by 23 participants from all across the country. There were participants from far off places like Kolkatta, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai as well as from Delhi and NCR.
During the program the participants had rigorous interactive sessions on various topics relating to project management, more
specifically financial aspects of projects. There were enlightening sessions on topics like pedagogy of finance, introduction to projects, project selection criteria, marketing a project, project costing, HR aspects of projects, project implementation, off balance sheet considerations in a project, techniques for
valuation of projects, real options etc. Apart from these the participants got exposed to lively sessions on case study pedagogy and management games. The
sessions were conducted by eminent academicians from renowned universitie s and institutes including esteemed senior faculty members from our own institute; Prof. Murali Mohan, Prof. Sengupta, Prof. S. Dasgupta, Prof. Kapoor, Prof. S. Goswami, Prof. A.K. Sinha, Prof. M. Venkatesan and Prof. Shirur.
The Faculty Development Program also entailed an industrial visit to DMRC project site. The participants after reaching the site were briefed on the aspects of metro project specifically planning and implementation of the project. This was followed by a tour to the IDEB laboratory and construction site. The
participants were awestruck by the sheer magnificence of the project. The visit was an enriching experience for everyone. On the final day of the program the participants made engaging presentations on relevant topics.
The feedback from the participants with respect to the entire program was very encouraging, they rated the faculty, sequencing of sessions, content delivered, coordination and overall conduction of program very highly.
