  MDPs/Seminars and Conferences Attended by the Faculty & Staff  
 
Prof. Vikas Kumar participated in “Short Term Training Programme on Technical Writing and Editing”, during Aug. 25 – 29, 2008 organized by National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (NISCAIR), New Delhi. The course curriculum focused on Technical communication process, Linguistics, Categories, Structure and functions of technical communications, Technical editing and Editorial process, Printing/Production aspects and Electronic Publishing. The course included practical sessions and experience sharing. A special visit to the printing facility of NISCAIR was also organized during the programme.

Dr. M. Venkatesan, presented a research paper titled “A Study of Resilience in relation with Personality, Cognitive Style & Decision Making Style of Management Students” in international conference on Management Sciences and Arts, organized by faculty of Management Studies at Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar from 15th to 17th September 2008.

Ms. Ambrien Ahmed, presented a research paper titled “A Study of Personal Dispositions and Cognitive Process in Decision Making of Management Students” in international conference on Managing Global Business Competition: World Best Practices, organized by Master of Human Resource Management Programme at MohanLal Sukhadia University, Udaipur from 22nd to 24th September 2008.

Ms. Rajni Kapoor presented a paper titled “Human Capital Development and Economic- Empirical study on South Asian Perspective” in International Conference of Management Arts and Science organised by Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar held from 15th to 17th September 2008.
  Abstract:

The paper makes an attempt to measure the relationship between human development and economic freedom and the impacts of economic freedom’s indicators on human development in South Asian Perspective. For the analysis, Five South Asian countries have been taken; these are India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal for the 10 year time-series trend from 1980 to 2005. Human capital development has been measured with the help of human development index value and economic freedom with the help economic freedom index constructed by Gwartney and Lawson 2007 in Fraser Institute. This study attempts to test statistically significant relationship between human development and economic freedom. It also analyzes the impact of economic freedom’s indicators on human development. It helps in identifying the most significant indicator of economic freedom that affects human development of the country and will guide the countries to develop this particular indicator of economic freedom to extend human resource.
