It’s really a matter of pleasure to present this first quarterly issue of Asia-Pacific Business Review (ABR) in the fourth year of journey. Papers included in the issue cover different aspects of business in the Indian and Global economy. I trust the issue will be much interesting for researchers and practitioners, and will also provide directions for the future research. Imanueli D. Mnzava in his paper “The Significance of Tax as a Determinant of Leasing: Evidence from UK Tax changes” has presented an analytical study on corporate tax and leasing activities. Author has shown that tax is an important factor influencing the leasing activities irrespective of the sector to which company belongs. Kamakodi and Khan have investigated the behaviour of Indian customers in selecting the banks. A nice critical review of the Indian banking sector has been presented with technology advances. The top ten parameters governing the selection of bank from the customers point have been investigated by the authors. Neeta Tripathi discusses the foreign institutional investment flows (FII) in Indian companies. FII is playing a significant role in the Indian economy as the investments are increasing day by day. Author has nicely analyzed the shareholding pattern of FII in the BSE sensex listed companies. Krishnan and Arora outlines the determinants of transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior with their study on Indian companies. A study has been carried out by Sritharan et al. to examine the relationship between involvement and brand loyalty. Analysis has been carried out using the consumer involvement profile. An approach to software project risk management has been discussed by Vikram Singh. Simulation based software project risk management tool has been presented to identify the high risk areas and help in the total product life cycle. An empirical study on the passenger satisfaction of southern railways has been presented by the Vannirajan and Stephen. A comprehensive tool “Railqual” has been developed to identify the attributes which passengers use to evaluate the quality of Indian passengers. The article puts a deeper insight in the customer’s satisfaction of one of the biggest passenger transport in the world. Rohini Singh analyses the Indian stock market using macro economic variables. Similarly an analytical valuation perspective of Indian companies has been presented by Kumar and Suhas. Companies have been evaluated on the basis of eight parameters. A study on general role stress has been carried out by Seema Bhatt and Prashant Verma on the IT/ITes professionals in India. The analysis is very significant concerning the HR issues of fastest growing IT industry. Ganpathi and Malar have investigated the customer satisfaction in the special economy zone. A special case of Madras Export Processing Zone has been taken in the study. Present issue includes two commentaries, significantly highlighting the economic concerns of India as well as United States. Current US slowdown and its global effects have been analyzed by David Floyd et al. in the “Shifting Patterns of Global Growth?”. A comparison of the economies of India, China and United States has been included in the study. Srinivas Shirur on the other hand puts a critical eye on the Indian Budget 2008-09 giving major recommendations and common man concerns. Beside these, three book reviews of recent arrivals have been included in the issue. The reader base of ABR is increasing with the constant support of contributors and subscribers. Number of the contributions is increasing at a high speed and the acceptance ratio is getting low. Trust, the journal will further improve with your constant feedback.
